Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions we are asked most often about scope, engagements, federal work and how we work with clients.
SERVICES & SCOPE
JBD Consulting LLC provides tax, accounting and bookkeeping, internal audit and audit readiness, internal controls and risk, government and federal financial management, IT audit and information technology, financial and business advisory, and project-based financial support. Scope is tailored to the client and the applicable requirements.
Yes. Services may support individuals and families, small and mid-size businesses, professional service firms, nonprofits, construction and trades, technology organizations, government/federal environments and other audit-driven or regulated organizations.
Yes. Cleanup may include reconciliations, account research, classification corrections, fixed-asset review, AR/AP cleanup, supporting schedules, tie-outs and documentation needed for tax or audit readiness.
Yes. JBD can provide non-attest audit readiness and support, including PBC coordination, reconciliations, documentation, data-quality checks, request tracking and remediation. The independent auditor remains responsible for the audit opinion.
Only where JBD is legally authorized, appropriately licensed and staffed for the specific attest engagement. Where those conditions are not met, we support the engagement through non-attest audit readiness and audit support services.
Yes. Support may include risk assessments, process walkthroughs, control design, segregation-of-duties review, testing, deficiency analysis, remediation and monitoring.
Yes. Monthly services can include bookkeeping, reconciliations, close, reporting, management review and controller-level support based on the client’s needs.
Yes. Project-based engagements can address cleanup, reconciliations, audit preparation, process documentation, remediation, data validation, financial analysis or temporary finance-team capacity.
Yes. Many needs cross service lines. For example, accounting cleanup may support tax filing, audit readiness may identify internal-control needs, and federal financial management may require IT control or data-interface analysis.
FEDERAL, IT AUDIT & TECHNOLOGY
Yes. Federal-focused services may include accounting, reconciliations, USSGL/SFIS analysis, audit readiness, corrective actions, intragovernmental transactions, asset/financial-system reconciliation, A-123 controls and related financial management support.
Yes. IT audit and information technology can be integrated into Government & Federal engagements or scoped separately. Support may include IT general controls, access and change management, interfaces, data integrity, SOC/CUECs, FISCAM/NIST-aligned controls, financial-system implementation, migration validation and technology governance.
Yes. JBD can help identify relevant control objectives, exceptions and complementary user entity controls and document how the client addresses user responsibilities.
Information Technology support may include IT strategy and planning, systems and application selection, implementation and migration support, interface and data validation, cloud and infrastructure advisory, IT governance, cybersecurity controls, technology project support and process improvement. Exact services are defined by engagement scope and available qualified resources.
Not as a standard service. JBD’s cybersecurity work focuses on governance, risk, controls, access, system reliability and compliance support unless a specialized cybersecurity service is separately scoped and qualified personnel, tools and contractual authority are available.
Government contractors may be supported within the Government & Federal or Professional Services framework when the requested accounting, controls, audit-readiness, contract-finance or financial-management work fits JBD’s scope.
WORKING WITH JBD
Many advisory, accounting, documentation, audit-readiness and analysis services can be performed remotely. On-site requirements depend on the engagement, access needs, system restrictions and client preference.
We start with a consultation to understand the objective, deadlines, current information, key stakeholders and expected deliverables. We then define scope, responsibilities, timing and fees before work begins.
Bring the problem or goal, relevant deadlines, the type of service needed, a high-level description of the records or systems involved and any known audit, tax, compliance or reporting requirements. Sensitive documents should be exchanged only through approved secure channels.
We aim to respond promptly to every inquiry received through the website.
JBD uses secure access, approved file-transfer methods, least-privilege access and appropriate retention practices to protect client information.
Sensitive files should be uploaded only through the secure Client Portal or another approved secure method — not through a standard email attachment unless the engagement process specifically permits it.
Yes. JBD can help review notices, reconcile amounts, organize supporting documents and prepare responses. Representation before tax authorities is provided or coordinated only by an authorized practitioner when required.
Fees depend on scope, complexity, timing, volume of information, required expertise and the condition of the records. Pricing is defined in the engagement proposal rather than a one-size-fits-all fee schedule.
No. JBD’s website and services are not legal advice. Clients should consult qualified legal counsel for legal interpretations, contracts, disputes or other legal matters.
No. Resources are general educational information. Tax, accounting, audit, compliance and financial decisions should be based on the specific facts, applicable standards and professional advice appropriate to the situation.
